השנה הזאת
THIS YEAR

We daven specifically for ‘this year’, as Chazal teach us, “כל מזונותיו של אדם קצובין לו מראש השנה”, “All of a man’s food is measured out to him on Rosh Hashana” (Beitzah 16b). And yet, even after Rosh Hashana, we continue to daven each day, for even with a good decree, many factors can change because of our sins; rain can be withheld, the cost of living can increase, poverty can  be sent upon a man; even a good decree requires constant and heartfelt Tefillah to Hashem.
