Q:
Are we only to love the frum Jews or are we to love other Jews also – even Jews who sin with mishkav zachar and other aveiros like that?
A:
Let me explain something to you. We love whom Hashem loves. Now, Hashem has stated that there are people who do certain things that are to Him are a to’evah, an abomination to him. Now if Hashem abominates them – what can we do? Are we going to love them?! He declares openly, certain things are an abomination to Him. Certain immoralities are an abomination – I don’t want to say it in public. Can you love what Hashem abominates? You can’t do that.
And therefore, we understand that Hashem loves those people who keep His Torah – they’re His holy people. They’re the ones whom He loves. And therefore, we have to love them. The non-frum Jews, we can pray for them. We can try to save them – we could try whatever we can do to persuade them to become frum Jews and then they should become beloved by Hashem and then we’ll love them too.
